Fairy Inspired Poem – #worldpoetryday

The Fairy Promise

Fairies promise to guard our fair Earth,

And support our animals for all it is worth.

They look for friends to support this good cause,

Without human help there is not enough force.

They ask for little but only your love,

And your actions to show you will protect the Earth.

Fairies are tricksy but in a playful way,

They promise to teach us lessons, if our focus does stray.

They love animals and Mother Nature, with all of their heart,

And will cherish these forever, whatever our part.

Fairies promise to try and gain our support,

For all eternity, until we are taught,

The value of life, including this Earth,

As it is too wonderful to lose all it’s worth!

Cruelty Free Make-Up, PETA & Tom Hardy!

Tom Hardy.png

Cruelty-free make up is an area that I have spent some time reviewing, especially with the completion of the Certified Fairyologist (Doreen Virtue) course which raised awareness of my actions and the impact of these even further, on the environment and animals. Testing on animals is banned in the UK so you would be forgiven for initially thinking this makes shopping for products much easier, but supermarket brands are not just made in the UK and I have suspicions that UK manufacturers may even be getting around this law by producing abroad and importing. Still, there are brands taking this seriously and these are increasing in numbers which can only happen if we actively stop buying brands that are not cruelty free. I like buying some of my products from Lush but there are many other options available online too! There is sometimes a need for trial and error as not all products work for me the way I would like and my journey continues!

This led to joining PETA and helping stop the cruelty of animals in the testing of products. PETA also provides useful information for shopping in the UK and I have added a helpful link , as a starter for you, taken from PETA’s (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) website:

Cruelty-Free Cosmetics

PETA also have an email sign up, that I now receive, which means where there are cruel practices you can be sent an email sharing these, with pre-written letters given, to campaign against the cruelty, and all you have to do is sign your name and send it off! This work has helped stop cruelty with different companies and is continuing to raise awareness – all without even leaving your home! What’s not to like about helping animals in this way?

Not convinced yet? Well, maybe stars that have supported this amazing cause could prove more convincing such as Tom Hardy supporting a recent advert for stopping animal cruelty – here’s the link for that story! Tom Hardy voice over in PETA advert

Clearing Negative Energy

A fascinating area for discussion! I guess it is important to consider what we believe to be negative energy, in the first instance and how this is perceived as, to me from talking with different spiritual practitioners, it is wide ranging from being merely mischievous to somewhat more menacing. All in all, one of the key messages I have surmised out of different contexts and experiences is that negative energy can be dealt with whatever it may be, as light and love will always be stronger than the dark! This is not to be feared, however, as it is always possible to clear. If you are fearful when clearing energy, it is possible to feed it further and, of course, not achieve the desired outcome straight away, although it is not possible to have any energy attach to you immediately if you have a moment of feeling unsure, as this takes days and days of negative thought related to it, to allow this.

So, ways to clear negative energy vary and can be anything you choose from a particular source you have read…there is no right way to do this and one method is not better than another. If the negative energy is strong, it can be useful to work with another light worker to visualise the energy surrounded by love and light until it is dispersed, but clapping hands, ringing Tibetan bells, using white sage smudge sticks or other essential oil/plant based sticks or leaves will all clear negative energy as will calling upon Archangel Michael and your guardian angels to clear. The choice is yours! The power of setting the intention to clear the negative energy prior to any method used and the belief in it working is the key ingredient for me.

One of the key aspects of clearing I am interested in remembering to practice, on a regular basis, is my home, car or other areas where I may be spending time, completing readings, or where I have had visitors. I do like to clear my home on a regular basis as there may be negative energy lurking from an argument or from another person bringing this with them if in a negative mind set. So, not the fearful side of spiritual working at all but an every day, practical way to remain positive and energetic!

Intention Setting

Something I have been seeing come up in different contexts a lot recently, is intention setting. As with any activity I wish to undertake, being clear as to the intended outcome or effect is important and I have been reminded of this within any spiritual practice over the last few weeks. This has included card readings which is where I have practiced setting an intention on a regular basis as this requires connection to the Divine or spirit guides and for me, ensuring accurate messages are given to those requesting the reading. The most recent example that I hadn’t fully considered to this extent is with white sage smudging where setting the intention to clear any negative energies is a positive aspect of this practice. So, for me, setting an intention before doing anything is really the key message to take from all of these independent experiences! What are your favourite intentions?

Something I had Forgotten!

It is interesting that the phrase ‘everything happens for a reason’ is so true and yet still so easily forgotten…this for me, seems to be when we are in the midst of something that we have attached an emotional response to, and therefore, have forgotten the bigger picture or our own words of wisdom…

Example: Arranging to see someone that puts you off a couple of times after being available…what if that was actually ‘meant to be’ due to the difficulty of the situation and not being subjected to negativity that would hurt me if I had put myself in that situation? Didn’t see this straight away as felt upset about the rejection but…with a reminder from another person using wise words…it suddenly made sense that this could be a protective mechanism which is there to help rather than cause more problems. I do tend to remember this when driving and get slowed down by traffic – perhaps delays are for good reasons and being a bit more patient pays off? Do you have any experiences like this?

Soap Nuts!

soap-nuts

I just wanted to share these with you, if you haven’t yet heard of them as they are a beautiful example of a natural resource available to all of us which is completely harmless to the environment and to us! Soap nuts are naturally grown on the Soap Nut Tree (it really exists!) and the shells of these nuts are the product used in creating the alternative soap liquids or detergents as they contain Saponins which create suds when the soap nuts come into contact with water. The nuts can feel a bit sticky to the touch when dry which was a good, first indicator for me that they really were going to have some soapiness within them.

I googled different ways to use them and found that I enjoy placing about 10 – 12 in a saucepan with a bottle full of water (I use washed out eco soap bottles and squash bottles) and then allow it to simmer for about 30 minutes. This draws the Saponins out of the soap nut shells and also turns the water a brown colour. If you decide to take a good sniff, the smell is not too unpleasant but does not transfer on to washed clothes, so be assured of that. I like to add some lavender essential oil to my soap liquid as this provides a lovely smell to the finished wash, but my clothes have smelt fresh and clean without this addition.

You can also pop these nut shells into a sock or bag (mine came with a bag to use) and place them directly into the wash. As well as realising how amazing these little natural nuts were for cleaning clothes, the best part is their value for money as you can re-use your soap nuts at least three times and really, use until no more suds are available from them, and then they can be used on the garden as compost!

I found them easy to buy on eBay but there are many more ideas and places to purchase them from! What’s not to like?
